Praying for Paris

This is not the time for theological pontification about the appalling terrorist attacks that killed or injured nearly 500 people in Paris less than two days ago.
Mike Evans, who has lived and ministered in France since 1963, suggests that Christians should respond in the following ways:-
Mourn with those who mourn
Families have lost loved ones. Many individuals have suffered life-changing injuries. Pray for the churches in the Paris area, as they reach out to the victims of these horrific attacks. May they not only help in the rebuilding of lives but also point to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Pray for leaders
The deliberations of President Hollande, his advisers and adversaries, will be critical in the days to come. May they humbly promote peace and justice, rather than seek revenge.
Be peacemakers
Understandably, the large Muslim population of France fears reprisals. Pray that Christians may reach out to their Muslim neighbours with kindness and with the message of the ‘Prince of Peace’.
Be convinced of God’s sovereignty
Most Moslems are appalled at the appalling acts of violence committed in the name of Islam. Many are turning, and we pray that many more may turn, to faith in Jesus Christ.
